SilverStone Strider Gold 750W Power Supply
Nov 11th, 2011 | By AnthonySo what’s the final word on SilverStone’s new latest and greatest? I’m left with a lingering feeling of ‘it could be better’. Let’s start with what could have been done better. For one, the 5V regulation. While a 3% deviation from specification is hardly terrible, actually, it is hardly shabby at all, however many units out there achieve better regulation. On the other hand, the 5V rail is hardly the most important and it is unlikely to encounter that much load. This however brings us to point number two. Price. On Newegg, the Strider Gold 750W goes 180 dollars but can be found for as low as 150. This put the power supply a tad on the expensive side but the SilverStone Strider Gold is an excellent unit.
The Strider Gold 750W does have a quite a bit of good points going for it and a few excellent ones, namely: efficiency and some pretty decent line regulation on the 12V rail (which reasonably, we care quite a bit more for than the 5V rail). The unit is also built extraordinarily well, inside and out. Still, while we can hardly discount the fact that the Strider Gold 750W is priced just a wee bit higher than it should, that decision is for the individual and despite priced a tad higher than other units, the Strider Gold is still a solid power supply.
